Up to seventy 2-5 year olds and fifteen infants/toddlers attend Miss Nadine’s Pre-School and the Jack & Jill Nursery. As part of our programmes we provide breakfast, lunch and a snack every day to the students who attend our facilities. The preschool stage is a good time to help children become familiar with the concept that eating a proper diet is part of a healthy lifestyle. Attitudes and habits formed during preschool years are likely to be carried into the future. The menus for the school are developed in consultation with nutritionists and are rotated every 5 weeks. In some cases, this will be the only home cooked and nutritious food the child may have that day. Meal times also give the Teachers an opportunity to work with the children on learning to eat independently, table manners and social skills.
The projected annual cost of providing these meals is CI$40,000
